TAKÁCS QUARTET
Complete Bartók string quartets Tuesday 18 & Wednesday 19 October 2011 The Takács Quartet performs all six of Bartók’s string quartets next season as part of Infernal Dance: Inside the World of Béla Bartók, the Philharmonia Orchestra’s year-long exploration of Bartók’s colourful, elemental and passionate music. There was huge demand for tickets for the Takács Quartet’s triumphant Beethoven cycle last year. We are putting these concerts on sale ahead of the rest of our 2011/12 classical season and giving you advance notice to make sure you don’t miss out. Booking opens to Southbank Centre Members at 10am on Wednesday 27 October, and to the public at 10am on Friday 29 October. 10% off if you book for both concerts at the same time. LIVE PERFORMANCE WITH 3D VISUALS Saturday 23 April 2011 Digital artist Klaus Obermaier and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra create a 21st-century realisation of Stravinsky’s early modernist masterpiece The Rite of Spring with a single dancer, Julia Mach, performing on stage. 3D glasses provide fascinating visual effects. Performances at 7pm and 9pm.
